Dennis Agostini, Ph.D., D.O., FACEP
Medical Director
Dr. Agostini has close to thirty years experience in planning and directing all aspects of various organizations’ medical policies and programs. As the Associate Dean of Clinical Education he has been responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and hospital CEOs by overseeing the development of quality content for curriculum and evaluation of all clinical programs for medical students in the largest medical school in the country. In addition, he has been responsible for the development and oversight of various postdoctoral GME programs. He has written research publications appropriate to support clinical service offerings, incorporated and developed a clerkship handbook outlining clinical policies instituted at over 100 hospitals, physician offices and clinics.
Prior Experience:
- As Medical Director of Provider Resources, Inc. Dr. Agostini’s responsibilities routinely require policy recommendations and determination of medical necessity as it relates to quality of care in multiple specialties.
- Served on the Utilization Review Committee at Millcreek Community Hospital for over 10 years. As a member of this committee he was responsible for auditing medical necessity and standards of care for Medicare/Medicaid inpatients.
- Founded Emergency Medical Associates of Millcreek and was Director of Emergency Services at Millcreek Community Hospital from 1984-1995.
- Served on the Management Advisory Council for the Veterans Integrated Service Network Area 4.
- Serves as Medical Expert with the Office of Hearings and Appeals under the Social Security Administration.
- Serves on various Committees and Bureaus of the American Osteopathic Association and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.
- Is a member of the Evaluator Registry of the American Osteopathic Association for the Committee on College Accreditation and the committee on Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institutes. As a member of this committee he is an evaluator for accreditation teams.
- Professor of Emergency Medicine, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
- Is a Life Fellow of American College of Emergency Medicine; certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice; and is an Instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Received the John and Silvia Ferretti Award for Outstanding Clinical Faculty at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
- Received the Item Writer of the Year (2007) from the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.
- Served as a Major in the US Army Reserves, Medical Corps, and participated in active duty in Operation Desert Storm.
Education:
Dr. Agostini received his B.A. in Chemistry from Gannon University, and continued to achieve a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University. He completed studies at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine with a D.O. degree. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners, and the American Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators, on which he served on the Board of Trustees. He is frequently an invited lecturer to professional organizations as well.
